BALLINNNN!!!!! TEJADA ON CRUISE CONTROL

by Clive Dahlton

Texas -- Miguel Tejada continues hit 2002 hit parade, going 3-4, stroking two singles and launching an absolute no doubter over the left centerfield wall. Tejada is now batting .548, his home run today puts his season total at five. Miggy is gettin' on base at a .588 clip, and boasting a remarkable 1.653 ops. Texas manager Jerry Narron was beside himself when the question of Tejada came up in the post game presser. "I have NEVER seen a guy this hot to start the season," Narron exclaimed.

Mark Mulder (2-0, 1.69 ERA) dominated, pitching a complete game shutout, striking out nine in the process, only walking one, helping the Athletic's to a 1-0 shutout victory over Texas. "Mark uhh, toss realy good game. Good command uh, real good slider, and... he do real good," Oakland backstop Ramon Martinez said. The Athletics pitching has a combined 2.66 ERA, tops in the league, second to Montreal.

The win puts them in a tie with Seattle, who came away with a victory against the Angels.
